Pakistan Association For Mental health

about us

Pakistan's Pioneering Mental Health NGO Since 1965

The Pakistan Association for Mental Health (PAMH) was founded in 1965 by Prof. Dr. Syed Haroon Ahmed with the mission to provide free mental health services to those in need. For over five decades, we have been dedicated to combating the stigma surrounding mental health and ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to essential psychiatric care, therapy, and medications at no cost.

In the 2023-24 period, PAMH treated 7,443 patients, with 73% receiving free medications. Our services include free psychiatric assessments and therapy at our clinic in Saddar, Karachi, as well as community programs focused on mental health awareness, suicide prevention, and crisis intervention. We also offer internship opportunities for aspiring psychologists to foster the next generation of mental health advocates.

At PAMH, we believe that mental health care is a fundamental right. We invite you to join us in our mission to support mental health for all. Whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading awareness, your contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve. Together, we can continue to change lives, one patient at a time.

Our Vision

To see a Pakistan where every individual—regardless of means—can access compassionate, world class mental health care.

Our Mission

To deliver free, stigma free psychiatric treatment and counselling through our Prof. Dr. Haroon Wellness Clinic, and to train the next generation of mental health professionals.
